Life-changing Testimonials

“We joined ABSA in the Netherlands. Our family agreed it was a trip of a lifetime!

Taking in the culture, doing what we love (watching our girl play ball) and meeting new friends that became softball sisters for life - both with our USA team and also with the other international teams!”

NEWS & FAQs

ABSA is dedicated to supporting athletes in their journey to becoming future leaders. More importantly, we believe that athletes have so much more to offer beyond the field.

  • What is American Based Sports Abroad?
We are one of the fastest-growing travelball organizations in the United States! We offer amazing, culturally-immersive opportunities for budding athletes to compete and represent America in exciting international competitions in the following countries: Italy, The Netherlands, Austria/Germany, Japan, Australia, The Dominican Republic, and more! Join Team ABSA for the chance to showcase your skills, play alongside players from all around the U.S., and experience new cultures! Not only will you walk away with a better player, but you'll be mentored by our outstanding select coaches who recruit and coach softball at colleges across America. We offer tours for softball, basketball, volleyball, and baseball!
  • Who are your coaches?
Our coaches are high-quality select and/or college coaches and have included Olympic-winning athletes who are passionate about empowering the next generation of young athletes. Meet our incredible team of coaches here: https://www.theabsa.com/our-team
  • Are you a non-profit organization?
We are not currently a non-profit (NPO) or a 501(c)(3) organization, but we are working on it.
  • Do minors need to travel with a parent or guardian?
Yes, athletes under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian travel with them. All attending parties need to pay.
  • Can we donate sports equipment?
Yes, sporting donations are appreciated and help support our programs and athletes!
  • How do I travel with my bat, catching equipment, cleats, etc.?
We advise that you check with your airline, but these items typically need to be checked.
  • Can we watch the games from home?
Yes, and we do our best to livestream all games on Facebook and YouTube.
  • How did you get my information?
We obtained your information through personal connection at one of our in-person events or via industry resources, including tournaments, Triple Crown events, and referrals.
  • What does our payment cover?
Tuition fees cover uniforms, games, ground transportation, 2-3 meals per day, hotels, listed excursions/local hotspots, and merch. Flights are not included.
  • Does everyone have to pay (parents, siblings, grandparents)?
Yes, the price is per person, based on double or triple occupancy.
  • How are the hotel rooms?
Rooms abroad are typically smaller than in the US. Most are equipped for double occupancy with either two twin beds or one full-size bed. Triple occupancy is occasionally available on a case-by-case basis. Please note that European hotels usually do not provide washcloths and air conditioning may not be as cold as in the States.
  • How's the food and local culinary scene?
The food is local and authentic to your destination, so prepare to feast and delight in new cuisine!
  • Do we need travel insurance?
Although it is not required, we strongly recommend getting travel insurance. Not only does it help to cover travel interruptions, but most importantly, travel insurance often provides medical coverage in case of emergencies abroad.
  • Do you provide medical insurance abroad?
No, we do not. However, travel insurance often does, so we strongly advise that you get this before you travel.
